The Wall Street Journal Asked Where Did all the Classy American Go?
Just over a year ago I became concerned about our widespread incivility. In reading ,”Where Did All the Classy Americans Go”, (April 29.) I understand I am not alone. I read that the F—word is used 22,177 times per year on streaming channels. This was up from 500 ten years earlier. I wrote of a physician who tried to live accoridng to Emily Post’s “Etiquette.” (The 1922 edition.) Ms. Post describes “The Best Society” as “an association of gentle-folk, of which good form in speech, charm of manner, knowledge of the social amenities and instictive consideration for the feelings of others, are the credentials by which society the world over recognizes its chosen members.”
Our congresspersons should read it.
